Butler Children’s Theatre Presents “Truly Frank”

El DORADO, Kan. – The Butler Theatre Department will perform “Truly Frank,” a children’s play written and directed by Theatre Department Chair Bob Peterson. The show's principal character, Alvin the Alligator, has appeared in several Butler children’s theatre performances since 2002. 

“Truly Frank” is a rethinking of the first “Alvin the Alligator” story as told by “Miss Chadwick,” the narrator of all the Alvin shows. The show takes place on the Digby Prep School campus where Franklin Osborne Barrett Digby Jr. IV is a student. He meets Alvin, an alligator, under the most unusual circumstances. Over the course of their relationship, “Frank” learns the lessons of acceptance and tolerance. 

Butler students will perform the show for approximately 1,250 elementary school children over a week and a half of matinee performances. An open matinee for the public will be presented Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. in the College Fine Arts Theatre. Admission is free but reservations are requested by calling 316.322.3262.
