Student artworks to exhibit and compete at Butler Gallery of Art

Butler Community College's Art department will host the annual Juried Student Art Exhibition from Apr. 13 to May 7 at the Erman B. White Gallery of Art; the exhibition will be closed on Apr. 15.

This is a competition that all Butler art students participate in. They contribute two pieces from each art class for consideration, then a juror selects the work to be displayed for the exhibition and chooses award recipients.

The juror of this year is Shannon Johnston, an assistant art professor and director of the Steckline Gallery from Newman University. Johnston is creatively productive in various ways through years of working with art, and her artwork develops from things that already exist.

The student reception and art awards ceremony will be on Apr. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the E. B. White Gallery, located in the 700 building on the Butler of El Dorado campus.

The E.B. White Gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check butlercc.edu/boxoffice for more upcoming events.
