Butler A Cappella has been accepted into the 2023-2024 International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) competition set to take place early next year. Butler Community College will be one of only two Kansas institutions represented, and one of only two community colleges to have an ensemble in the competition.

Over 600 groups from over 300 colleges applied for the competition, and Butler A Cappella was one of 400 chosen for the NCAA March Madness-style tournament. Butler A Cappella will compete in the Midwest Region, which includes 51 singing groups from 23 different colleges.

“I'm proud of our work to make it into the competition and hope that we can compete at a high level,” said Butler music professor Matthew Udland.

The first round of regional quarterfinal competition will take place Saturday, February 17, at Liberty High School Performing Arts Center in Kansas City, MO.

Butler vocal music students will be performing with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra as part of WSO’s “Spirit of the Season” holiday concert on Tuesday, December 12, at Century II in Wichita. Free tickets available at www.wichitasymphony.org.
