Butler Community College proudly announces its redesignation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA). This esteemed recognition is a testament to Butler faculty’s unwavering dedication to providing top-tier education and training in the rapidly evolving field of cyber security. The excellence designation is awarded through academic year 2029.

“Your ability to meet the increasing demands of the program criteria will serve the nation well in contributing to the protection of the National Information Infrastructure,” wrote Renae Weathers, National CAE Program Manager for the NSA, in Butler’s award letter. “A highly skilled cybersecurity workforce is a strategic national security advantage. “The United States Government will continue to invest in and enhance programs that build the domestic talent pipeline, from primary through postsecondary education.”

The Cyber Security program at Butler is a Kansas Promise Scholarship eligible program. Qualifying students can earn their two-year cyber security degree at no cost. With a focus on excellence in education, the Butler Cyber Security program prepares cyber security professionals to face emerging cyber threats with confidence and expertise.

“We work really hard to ensure we’re providing our students with the latest training in the cyber security field,” said Brett Eisenman, program chair and assistant professor of Computer Information Systems for Butler. “This designation is a validation of that work and we’re honored to again be named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.”

The designation speaks to the program's rigor and viability for higher education to serve in the development of a high-quality workforce with expertise in cyber defense, and to its qualifications to reduce vulnerability in our national information infrastructure.
