Fire Science Residency Program
Live the experience and learn on-the-job.
Butler's Fire Science residency program is the only one of its kind in Kansas. In partnership with the El Dorado Fire Department, this program provides you a unique and exciting opportunity to work alongside professional firefighters. By living in the newly-built Fire Station in El Dorado, you study in a hands-on learning environment.
Ten students are selected for residency and may reside in the station for the duration of their studies or as long as they maintain eligibility. Each student is assigned to a specific municipal fire department in and around El Dorado and is classified as a volunteer firefighter. Residents are assigned specific shifts to gain on-the-job experiences.
