Engineering Graphics Technology

The fine art of drawing ideas into reality.

Before an idea can become a product, it has to become a drawing. The drawing has to be precise, accurate and informative enough to ensure that the idea becomes a manufactured reality. Performing that critical task is the responsibility of engineering design technicians. It’s work for people who like computers, drawing and working as part of a team to achieve a shared objective.

At Butler, you can earn either an associate degree or certification in Engineering Graphics Technology. The program will prepare you for career opportunities in mechanical or architectural engineering.

Learn the technology and the teamwork

You’ll learn how to use professional software for computer-aided design (CAD), solid modeling and two and three-dimensional design. You’ll also learn how to prepare layouts and all required documentation to conform to industry standards.

Our small classes allow you to work closely with our experienced faculty. Instructors often build coursework around projects from their own experience to give you an exposure to real-world assignments. You will also work in teams, collaborating with other students the way you will on the job.

When you have completed the program, you may want to continue your education at a four-year college. If so, you’ll find that the credits you’ve earned at Butler will transfer with you, reducing the cost of your Bachelor’s degree while keeping you right on track to achieve your academic goals.
