Tutoring Services receives Level One designation from College Reading and Learning Association.

Butler Community College’s Tutoring Services department has been awarded certification as a Level One tutor training program by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), an internationally-recognized student support organization.

The two-year certification, Butler’s sixth, recognizes Tutoring Services as having met CRLA’s lofty standards for tutor selection, training, direct service, and evaluation as part of its overall program. Tutoring Services also successfully completed CRLA’s International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) peer review process.

“Tutoring Services and Butler Community College benefit greatly from the support and training received from CRLA,” said Tutoring Services Director Cassandra Zeiner. “To have an accredited tutoring program at a college of our size is a massive accomplishment. We are immensely proud of the accomplishments made by our Tutor Ambassadors.”

Butler Community College's Tutoring Services is deeply committed to student academic success, with 26 trained tutors available to students for a total of 72 hours every week free of charge. The majority of classes at Butler are covered by at least one tutor, and over 100 students take advantage of tutoring sessions either via Zoom or in-person at our El Dorado or Andover campus labs.

CRLA is the premier organization for the advancement of learner-centered professionals from across all academic disciplines and a variety of fields who are committed to supporting college literacy and learning toward equity and justice within and beyond post-secondary education.
