Theatre Performance Scholarship Audition Guidelines

To register for an audition, you'll need to fill out the online registration form on the Fine Arts and Communication Scholarships page. To prepare for your audition, follow the information below.

Butler Community College offers activity scholarships that cover in-state tuition and books for students participating in music, theatre, art, and mass communication.

You do not need to major in theatre to receive an activity scholarship.

In-Person Scholarship Auditions

Auditions will be conducted by the college instructor/director with one student manager in attendance.  You will need two prepared, memorized, solo acting pieces – not to exceed five minutes in combined length. Be prepared to give the title of your piece(s) and to cold read a short scene provided to you. Also, bring:

  • Resume, including GPA
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher.
  • A recent photograph

Virtual Theatre Scholarship Auditions

We are offering the option of submitting virtual auditions and interviews for Theatre Scholarships.

The virtual audition requirements for a Theatre Performance Scholarship are:

  • Self-Recorded Video Audition to include:

Two prepared, memorized, solo acting pieces – not to exceed five minutes in combined length. The frame of the recording should include 3 quarters of your body (above the knee to head) and can not have any editing during the piece(s). Please upload your video to YouTube as an unlisted video and submit the link via email with the rest of your submission documents.

  • Resume, including GPA
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher.
  • A recent photograph
